(PRWEB) July 5, 2005

In May of 2005 U.S. hardware history was made. This was the first time that laptops sold more than desktop computers in a single month. Indeed, Current Analysis, an innovative research firm headquartered in Sterling, Virginia, confirmed that laptop sales leapt to 53.3 percent of the total PC retail market in May 2005.

Were these figures just a blip on the the computer sales radar? Unlikely – folks with laptops are everywhere. Students learning interactively in the classroom, business men and women compiling data reports on planes and trains, and casual surfers reading emails in coffee shops,

So, what current factors contribute to the massive popularity of laptops with the computer buying public?

Affordability

Five years ago, a person would walk into a computer store with four thousand dollars, and emerge bow legged, carrying a bulky notebook computer the size of a sewing machine – about as cutting edge as grandpa’s pipe and smoking jacket. Today advanced mobile tech is affordable. Indeed, a Compaq NX6125 from HP, equipped with a biometric fingerprint reader, 60GB hard drive, and an AMD 64 bit Turion processor costs less than $ 1000.

Expect prices for laptops to get even lower in the coming months thanks to intense competition between the two heavyweight processor manufacturers, Intel and AMD. Both companies have introduced mobile chips with speeds that offer desktop performance.

Laptops in the classroom could even go as low as 100 dollars a unit, if Nicholas Negroponte has his way. The MIT Media Lab professor is working on an innovative concept to distribute wireless laptops to some the world’s poorest children.

http://www.laptopical.com/

Connectivity

Laptops with Wi-Fi are no longer an optional luxury. At Mammoth Coffee in Newport, Ohio, more and more business owners are jostling for notebook “office space,” to the modest tune of a blueberry muffin, and a Cafe Au Lait.

Those who dine at fine restaurants at the very least expect a sensory, savory meal, set upon a table with fine silver and white table cloths; superior service; and ambient lighting. Well that’s exactly what’s on the menu at Trapeze restaurant in Burlingame, California, along with wireless access service for laptops.

Wireless fidelity has moved effortlessly from the boundaries of home and office to the pristine elegance of posh restaurants. But, will the Wi-Fi laptop revolution end here?

Last Mile Communications have even greater ambitions for Wi-Fi notebooks. They hope to use the established infrastructure of the many lamp-posts dotting around merry old England to produce a network of wireless access points.

This ambitious UK company would like convert the street lights, so they can be accessed via a laptop to connect to the internet. Last mile would also like to put flash memory in the lights so even without accessing the web, information about local amenities, and emergency fire, police and ambulance services would be accessible.

Portability

Laptops with performance rivalling that of desktop computers used to be knee breakers – Not any more. A stream of high quality ultralights and ultraportables have flooded onto the market in the last few months.

Acer’s Red dot award winner, the Travelmate 3000 boasts a widescreen 12.1 inch panoramic display, and the notebook’s compact chassis occupies less desktop space than a sheet of A4 paper – weighing just 1.4kg.

The Sony T2, a sleek silver ultralight laptop, is equipped with a 60GB hard drive, 1.2GHz processor and weighs just under 1.4kg.

Toshiba’s Libretto U100 tips the scales at 2.16 pounds, has a 1.20GHz Intel Pentium M processor, and sports a hard drive protection system.

While desktop PC sales aren’t yet sinking like torpedoed cargo ships, the market momentum is certainly with their mobile computer rivals. Only time will tell whether wireless laptops consign desktops to the fate of the dinosaurs.

Question by Euan S.: My Compaq Laptop keeps on turning off when I play an online game?
I have a Presario V2000 Compaq Laptop. I’ve had it for a little over two years. Just two months ago whenever I start playing a game that you buy at a store it turns itself off within 20 minutes. I’ve tried cleaning the heat sink but that didn’t help. It isn’t even getting hot either. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Best answer:

Answer by jack.spade
it could be your drivers. it most likely is. check to see if the manufacturer has updated graphics drivers, and if that doesnt work, try uninstalling them and running with the default ones for your operating system. both options have there benefits. personally i have to use the vista default drivers on my laptop because the nvidia ones crash my chip.

What do you think? Answer below!

Article by Larry Levine

Right here are a few of tactics to purchase in bulk, rather of concentrating on persons to invest in they’re ancient personal computers just after they have upgraded, focus on on acquiring all the pcs from business just after they have upgraded. Be ready to come choose them all up and give them a fair price tag on the whole lot of computers. A different way to get computer systems to sell in bulk is to search for auctions that are offering off they’re whole deliver of personal computer. A beneficial area to check out for these is auction zip, and federal government auctions. The moment you get to the level of getting the personal computers in substantial quantities the up coming phase then is to leverage your time to your advantage and seek the services of men and women to do the repairs of the pcs. Network or run advertisements on Craigslist saying you want a pc repair adult males, set it up with them so that you can have them select up huge volume of personal computers a single time and fix them all and carry them again diagnosed and repaired. And then you can begin your process of promoting them 1 at a time both on eBay or Craigslist or your own website. And my final suggestion for acquiring this company to improve is to again leverage your time by employing some an individual to do all your eBay listing and packaging. In the previous, once it was time for you to invest in a new laptop computer laptop, it meant that your older laptop had very considerably misplaced all of its appeal. Even nowadays, reselling a employed laptop computer commonly is not a incredibly worthwhile endeavor. Most laptop computer computers drop fairly substantially all of their resale appeal in the class of a mere two years. The major rationale for this brief depreciation in value is that, not like with cars and trucks, it can be challenging to harvest an previous notebook for components and market them individually.Nevertheless, it can be completed. And the World-wide-web is creating the two buying and offering applied notebook parts an a lot easier and a lot more useful factor to do all the time. For the sake of this article, let’s say that you are attempting to promote compaq presario notebook components in order to get a small income to place towards purchasing your new notebook pc.Although the hardware of aged laptop pcs tends to not be worth very much in and of itself, if you offer compaq presario notebook sections that have practical application, you can obtain that this increases your chances of remaining in a position to promote them.To recognize why this is, just put all by yourself in the buyer’s sneakers. If, for instance you have uncovered a private owner who is attempting to provide compaq presario laptop areas, possibilities are that this person will not eliminate the software package from the computer just before selling the elements to you. The program that will nonetheless be on the coputer could possibly include nearly anything from an running system (which can expense several hundred dollars if obtained new) to gaming programs and by now downloaded new music and video files. Getting these sorts of items separately can definitely include up in phrases of cost. As a buyer, you can help save a ton of dollars by buying a used laptop computer that already arrives with these things. And as a seller, which includes these kinds of important things when you are attempting to sell compaq presario laptop parts can improve the amount of dollars that you are ready to make off of your sale.As a private seller, this also provides you an advantage over businesses that are also hoping to sell compaq presario laptop sections made use of. Customers know that firms who do this are extra probably to erase files and reformat the areas just before advertising them. If you are a private seller, you can attract customers who are willing to spend a lot more by allowing them know that you will depart almost everything intact that does not compromise any particular facts or non-public information in some way.

When purchasing new items, it is often difficult to know what to do with the old stuff. After years of buying, the clutter factor in your household can often accumulate enough to take up an entire room. However, there is always something to do be with old merchandise, big and small. Any previous owned items from clothing to cars need to be dealt with once you have purchased new ones to replace them. Old clothing can be donated, cars can either be donated or sold, and houses are typically put on the house market. Instead of cluttering your house and life, make the choice to sell old merchandise. Electronics can be sold for money, so when purchasing a new laptop, lesson the clutter by deciding to sell the Compaq Evo laptop.

Items such as clothing and furniture are typically donated unless in pristine condition. After years of wear and tear, they are typically in too poor condition to be sold for profit. However, when you sell a Compaq Evo laptop, you have the opportunity of making money in two ways, either selling it as a whole unit or selling it in parts. Companies that buy laptops offer a service where they will simply just buy the computer as a whole with the idea to sell the parts later. This offers a hassle free transaction between the customer and the purchaser.

Depending on what kind of laptop you have, it could be more difficult to sell. Older models are not only out of date themselves, but also have parts that are no longer used by the newer models. If your model is too old to profit off of, it might be a good idea to simply donate the laptop. Newer models offer a better resource for profit making, so when you sell a Compaq Evo laptop, you will have the chance to make more money as it is a newer model.

Another important consideration to make is to decide when to sell your computer. You might think it a good idea to keep your old computer, as a potential backup or second use laptop. However, chances are that you won

* Turn off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth – Most laptops have shortcut keys to instantly disable wireless networking. * Disconnect all external device like PC Card modems, Firewire, USB devices and optical drives. Use the notebook touchpad instead of an external mouse. * Avoid Using the Optical Drive if Possible. If you need a CD make an image then use the Hard Drive to play it. Burn Music CDs to MP3 Format. * Increase the amount of Ram in the Laptop. For Windows XP you should have at least 512MB of ram. If the Laptop is using the HDD for virtual RAM it will affect battery life.

More about Lithium Ion BatteriesBattery research is focusing heavily on lithium chemistries, so much so that one could presume that all portable devices will be powered with lithium-ion batteries in the future. In many ways, lithium-ion is superior to nickel and lead-based chemistries and the applications for lithium-ion batteries are growing as a result.

However, the conference I (Daniel Garty LBNZ company Director) attended in Shanghai Compaq hstnn-db42 Battery Compaq n600 Battery I distinctly remember hearing the opposite. That Speaker stated in his opinion that Lithium Ion Technology had infact reached the limits of its current capacity. Most agree that for all practical purposes Lithium Ion Technology will be used for portable devices for the foreseeable future with a general consensus that we have reached a Capacity Threshold or Plateau.

we are constantly researching and keeping up with the Lithium Ion technology to try to provide customers with the Best possible batteries for their Laptops.

Small Dog’s home base in Waitsfield experienced an unexpected power outage this morning. I wrote this on a MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo 2.33GHZ 15″ machine, which a half hour ago had a full charge but only estimated 1 hour 45 minutes of remaining battery life.

I know from experience with my 1.67GHZ PowerBook G4 that the pro machines lag behind the consumer models in battery life, and since I am in the position of having to conserve battery life I thought I’d share my technique.

* Lower the display brightness all the way down. Doing this will generally double the estimated remaining battery life if beforehand you were set to full brightness. * Disable keyboard backlighting.

* Ensure that Energy Saver is set to Compaq dv6500 Battery spin down hard disks when possible.

* Put your computer to sleep whenever you’re not actively using it, like when you’re on the phone, in the bathroom, or walking the dog. * Eject optical disks. They spin, taking power, even when they’re not actively being used. * Have lots of RAM installed. This helps prevent excessive virtual memory use (virtual memory is hard drive space that’s turned into “virtual” RAM. When the computer needs more RAM than is physically installed, it’ll dip into virtual memory reserves, and cause increased disk activity. For this reason, avoid invoking dashboard for its excessive memory use; consider using activity monitor to kill the dock process, which owns Dashboard. If you’ve invoked Dashboard, killing the Dock will free up all the memory it used. Consider disabling Spotlight as well because its indexing is both processor- and disk-intensive. * Use your iPod for music. iTunes keeps the hard drive working.

* Type in TextEdit, not Word. Word’s autosave feature spins up the hard drive all the time; TextEdit does no such thing.

* Don’t keep unused Applications running in the background.

* If you use Quicksilver, ensure that it does not re-catalogue, which is hard drive- and processor-intensive. Set it to rescan every 24 hours.

We’re still in the dark here, but the generator is chugging away keeping the web servers and VOIP phone system up and running. With these techniques I increased estimated battery life from 1h45m to 3h20m…that’s a big difference!

Being a reseller in the field of Batteries is not the easiest one succeed in. Whilst most VAR (Value Added Resellers) will tell you that their Batteries are superior to others, the Truth of the Matter is the quality is totally determined by Manufacturer and Original Cell Supplier. VARs are generally interested in blowing a smoke screen to make customers think somehow they are manufacturers and can supply you with the Best Batteries around. Sorry not True.Whilst there are Hundreds of Battery Manufacturers worldwide. There are only really a few worth while knowing about.

1. Portapower is the single largest third party Laptop Battery Manufacturer in the world. Some estimates put their market share as high as 50%. Their OEM clients include Dell, Toshiba, HP. Their Prices are very expensive but the quality is excellent and they have the complete range. They use most Panasonic Cells in their Products.2. Roofer Batteries is arguably in the second largest in China at least. Backed by a Chinese Billionaire the are quickly becoming a major Player in the Battery Market. The Quality is Excellent. Pricing is completive. Mostly they use Korean made LG cells.

The battery have a good compatibility with many original laptop batteries for many laptops, even diffenent brands.

Dayton, OH (PRWEB) June 24, 2006

Spare Parts Warehouse offers laptop batteries and notebook batteries for major brands such as Dell, IBM, HP, Toshiba, Sony, Compaq, Apple, Gateway, and Panasonic.

“We have a huge laptop battery and notebook battery inventory,” said Mike Davis, president of UCR, Inc.

UCR, Inc., founded in 1986, is the parent company of Spare Parts Warehouse. The company specializes in integrating Internet, networking, and application technologies.

As one of the company’s many services, they have designed an eCommerce site that provides their customers with many choices for laptop and notebook batteries. They offer genuine factory direct and third-party replacement laptop batteries, or customers can also select from their inventory of pre-owned laptop or notebook batteries.

If an order is placed before 2:30 p.m EST, the laptop or notebook battery will usually ship the same day. The company also carries a large inventory of laptop parts and accessories that include, but are not limited to: laptop hard drives, laptop AC adapters, laptop keyboards, laptop LCD displays, and much, much more.

“If a customer cannot find the right battery for their laptop, or notebook,” Davis explained, “our expert technical sales staff can help to identify the battery needed. We are available via a toll-free number and carry a full range of laptop and notebook batteries.”

Ordering is simple. Orders can be placed online at http://laptop-batteries.sparepartswarehouse.com, via fax, or over the phone, although E-mail is not recommended due to credit card security issues. Warranties and return policies are also available.

How does it work? Near the top of the screen is a toolbar with a list of manufacturer names. The customer clicks on the manufacturer name and part they are seeking. A complete list of spare parts will be listed for the chosen model. Many will show the price; if the price is not listed, customers can call a sales agent at a toll free number that is provided on the site. They can also request a quote online.

If the part number is known, a Search tool can also be used to lookup price.

“As an authorized service center for Sony, Okidata, IBM, Toshiba, HP, Compaq and Lexmark,” Davis said, “we maintain an extensive library of detailed model breakdowns. Simply contact us toll-free or send us an online message and include the manufacturer name, brand, model number and if possible, the part number of the model.”

About Spare Parts Warehouse
